Cirrus Aircraft Store - Duluth, Minn. - Less than four months ago Cyrus Aircraft announced it was renovating a 189,000-square-foot building north of the airport to become an innovation center.

Innovation for the company's aircraft has been an integral part of the company's growth and future. At the Duluth Chamber of Commerce's Let's Do Lunch event this afternoon, Cirrus Aircraft President Patrick Wedick told attendees, "Here in Duluth this coming spring we're going to be moving into a new innovation center that's great. Because we have a lot. There are planes to be built, but we also need to design the planes of the future. The innovation part is very important to our development."

The company delivered its first aircraft, an SR series propeller aircraft, to a customer in 1989, Wedic says. In its 35 year history the company has delivered more than 9,000 propeller aircraft to your customers. Introduced in 2016, more than 400 of the company's Vision Jets have been delivered. "In the last three years, definitely, the demand for our products, whether it's SR series propeller aircraft to 5-seat business jets," Wedic said. He continued "We can help people where they want, when they want and do it safely and comfortably."

Safety has been at the forefront of the company's mission since its inception. The company's parachutes are part of all their planes. And Wedic says the parachute event has been able to bring 240 people back to their families.

The company wants to work with other businesses, cities and the state to help innovate and bring solutions to problems facing all companies in the region. Wedick says these issues include...the continued need for more housing, the need for more workers and the need to educate others across the state and country that a great city is in Duluth. The Hills in Knoxville, Tennessee, is Cirrus Aircraft's primary location for pilot training, service, support, sales, marketing, aircraft delivery and other functions for the Cirrus SR series of aircraft and SF50 single-engine personal jets. Cirrus Aircraft is expanding its Vision Center, located at McGee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee. It plans to build three new hangars by the end of 2021. Finally, the Duluth, Minnesota company plans to build a new main facility on campus.
