ruger 1022 review

Ruger 1022 Review - The Ruger 10/22 has to be the most famous 22 rifle known to man. 10/22 5 decades of production shows no signs of slowing down. In its long history, Ruger has produced more than 30 models. It may also be one of the most modified rifles in US history, along with the AR15. Rugers latest addition to this long line is the Ruger 10/22 Takedown, also known as the Ruger 10/22 TD, released in March 2012.

The 10/22-TD is a collapsed version of the basic stainless 10/22 carbine with a synthetic stock. The Take-Down separates the barrel from the receiver, allowing the owner to remove the barrel and receiver for easy transport.?22 caliber is often the center of much debate about its survivability as a caliber, but I trust Ruger. according to its capabilities, pack it in a nice soft nylon box.

According to Ruger, the Bug-Out nylon holster will float for a considerable amount of time while still safely inside the gun, depending on what other materials are placed inside. I didn't want to test this theory with such a nice 22 and shell, so I'll take Ruger's word for it this time. The Bug-Out pouch has plenty of compartments to store extra Ruger BX25 magazines, first aid kits, lots of ammunition, and other accessories needed for a typical day on the range or a no-fail survival scenario.

The 10/22TD case is attached to the receiver, but should be relatively short in length, or perhaps with removable rings. I found the 4x Leupold FX-1 to fit nicely and neatly into the factory supplied scope base. I think there were two factory bases in the package because this package I received went wrong.

Although I installed a blind on this gun right away, it comes with a very nice set of bullets. The sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation.

The front sight is a very nice gold bead that allows for quick scope and sight alignment as well as target acquisition.

The 10/22 Takedown is little more than another shotgun option. Sure, it's 10/22, but it's very different from the millions of 10/22s that came before it, but it's basically the same. Standing on a gun rack next to the rest of the 10/22s, it's easy to walk past this model without even looking at it. If you look closely, you'll find a gap in the arms that separates the receiver and barrel. The obvious difference is the lever located under the arm, in front of the notch.

This lever is an important component in disassembling and assembling the 10/22 Takedown. The disassembly procedure consists of checking the pistol for safety, removing the cartridge, throwing the bolt back, and pulling the disassembly lever while rotating the barrel and withdrawing it from the receiver. When you get together? loosen the unloading adjustment ring by turning it clockwise as far as it will go, insert the barrel and turn it clockwise until it locks (a quarter turn), tighten the adjustment ring? turn it counter-clockwise as far as possible. finger pressure. The system is similar, but not exact, to that of Browning, the author of this project. In the manual, Ruger turns the bolt two or three times to make sure everything is seated correctly. Although I have no issues with this after about 600 rounds, I think it should be noted that Rugers quality control process has allowed some barrels to leave the factory without being properly heat treated. A visual inspection can tell if this is a problem or not. There should be a blue ring around the barrel at the end of the barrel.

Those that have not been heat treated will not have this color pattern and will eventually cause the tip of the barrel to peel off. Although several incidents have been reported, Rugers customer service has been top notch in terms of customer service and barrel replacement. The concept of disassembly has been the subject of much debate, mainly due to the long-term accuracy of repeated assembly and disassembly. I've seen tons of pies with thousands of rounds that still retain their accuracy over the years, which is very interesting. I know the Ruger 10/22 Takedown does the same. I have had the pleasure of testing this rifle over the past couple of months with various brands of ammo and the function has been impeccable.

The first time I was at the range, my son and I put 200 rounds through a Remington 22LR and it broke. This took a little longer than expected, as Ruger only provided one 10-round rotary magazine.

By the end of the session I had fired 5 rounds of every brand of ammo I had, Remington, Wolf Match Target, CCI-SV and Federal Blue Box.

Review] Ruger 22 Charger: More Handy Than A 10/22?

Rifle Wolf Match Loved the target, center ball 5 shots. The bottom left ball on the target is the CCI-SV, the top left ball is the Remington, all three balls provide decent accuracy at 50 yards. What shocked me the most was the terrible case of the Federal Blue Box (510). In the upper right group was the first shot of Federal cartridges fired by a rifle of the same pattern. I shot a second ball, the one in the lower right, with the same shot, with the same results. The Ruger 10/22 Takedown doesn't like the Federal Blue Box (510) for some reason.

My son and I enjoyed our time together at the range, but we knew right away that there would be many more trips with this gem of a rifle in the future. The 10/22 Takedown showed more accuracy for me than many of the stock versions I've shot, which may be due to the fact that the trigger is weighted at 4 pounds on the RCBS trigger. This test was conducted with 22LR blanks, but some manufacturers' instructions state that dry fire can be used.

On my last trip with the Ruger 10/22 Takedown due to the 30 degree weather I visited? ? Indoor range with many different brands of ammo and pellets from my sandbags at 50 yards. I disassembled and reassembled the rifle between each 5-shot group, and also fired 10 rounds of each brand of ammo before firing for the accuracy groups. The 10/22 Takedown was done very well, which I think is a good indicator of how repeatable the 10/22 Takedown will be.

The elimination concept has been around for a while, so it's nothing new, but this is the first Ruger company to use the elimination concept, and IMHO Ruger did a pretty good job. When everyone is talking about survival, bugs, and SHTF-type situations, the disruption on 10/22 will be a crowd pleaser. Especially someone like me who has never owned a 10/22 before and is looking for a rifle with a light package. If I'm using it under duress, I don't like a backpack with a big Ruger logo on it because I don't want anyone to know I have a gun in my backpack. This is easily solved with one of Mr. Wedges. The Ruger 10/22 Takedown is about half the price of the Browning and with a little help from you fellow users, Darrell can give me one to compare. When Ruger released the 10/22 semi-automatic rifle in 1964, the company had no idea how popular it would become. The Ruger 10/22 RB rimfire is the rimfire repeater of choice for many shooters and is available in a wide range of models including: Sporter, target, synthetic, compact or laminated stock versions. It is an excellent weapon against parasites. (Read more about pest control.)

The base model is the 10/22 RB, which is compact in size, measuring only 37.25 inches in overall length and weighing 5 pounds without a scope or sound moderator.

The model on test may be a bit plain, but it still packs Ruger's unique 10-shot rotary magazine and is capable of getting the job done without too much fuss.
